The Origin Story
Swellify was born out of pure passion, not tied to investors or corporate interests—just a deep love for surfing. I created Swellify with one simple goal: to make it easier for surfers like you to catch more waves, have more fun, and spend less time worrying about checking your phone for conditions or planning.
Founded in April 2022 in Wellington, New Zealand, Swellify is completely self-funded and is proudly 100% New Zealand owned and operated. It is the product of countless hours spent scouring the coastline for the best surf spots, finding the best data sources, analyzing each and every spot's unique characteristics and designing a simple, easy to use app.
As a fellow surfer, I get it. You’re constantly juggling work, family, and the pursuit of that elusive perfect session. Swellify is here to simplify things—providing personalized, accurate forecasts just for you, whether you’re chasing swells across New Zealand or just trying to squeeze in a local session before the day ends.
